This is a legacy page!
Wait, what?
We were collecting information about this error message to try and figure out what is causing it. This collection has now ended, as the cause is now pretty well known.
Check out the new page about EET here!
This page is now largely irrelevant, and is just kept around to not break all the links to it.
Thank you.

Are you seeing this crash dialog?
An "early exit" is when a program exits unexpectedly, and gives no reason or error message in the process. FiveM captures when this mysterious disappearance happens, in a "trap", to properly present a crash dialog and let you know it has happened.
This is an "Early-Exit Trap".
How do I fix it?
This is still unclear. A fix is being worked on, but more information is needed. There might be several root causes, but hopefully a solution can be found to the most common causes.
This is where you can help, by contributing information about your specific system.
Should I send multiple ones?
Once per computer is plenty. There is not likely to be any new information in subsequent submissions.
What do you need?
- Crash dump
- Process list
Crash dump
To provide a crash dump, just click on the "Save information" button on the crash dialog.
This generates a file named CfxCrashDump_2023_11_22_12_13_14.zip
, except it has today's date and the current time. It will tell you where this file has been saved.
If you already have your own support thread in #FiveM-Support on Discord, drag the crash dump file into that thread to upload it.
If not, please make a post, title it "Early-Exit Trap", and provide the file.
Thank you!
Task list
Usually, Early-Exit Trap is the result of a conflict with other software running on your computer. It can be very hard to pin down exactly what is causing it so a solution can be found. You can help by providing a list of the other stuff running on your computer.
- Press Win+R
- Type in
cmd
- Click OK
- A black command prompt window will appear
- Type in
tasklist -v > %userprofile%\Desktop\tasklist.txt
(you can copy/paste from here) - Press Enter - It will think about it for a while
- Wait until it returns to the blinking command prompt
- Type in
exit
and press Enter. The black window will disappear.
There will now be a new file on your desktop, called tasklist
.
If you already have your own support thread in #FiveM-Support on Discord, drag the task list file into that thread to upload it.
If not, please make a post, title it "Early-Exit Trap", and provide the file.
Thank you!
Now what?
Now I pass this information on to the developers. This will hopefully help them find the root causes of all this.
With every piece of information made available to the developers, we get closer to a solution.
Thank you
For real, thank you for your contribution to solving this issue.
